Mumbai Indians Sign Tara Norris in Historic First WPL Player Trade

Mumbai Indians completed their first-ever player trade in Women's Premier League history ahead of the 2027 season by acquiring United States left-arm seamer Tara Norris from UP Warriorz at her existing fee of Rs 10 lakh. The 28-year-old joins the two-time champions after previously playing for Delhi Capitals in the inaugural 2023 campaign, where she made history as the first bowler to take a five-wicket haul in the tournament. Norris's signing completes Mumbai Indians' overseas quota for the upcoming season, giving the team the option to field five overseas players because athletes from Associate nations are exempt from the standard four-player limit. Norris represents the United States internationally and has previously played for MI London in the women's Hundred.

Ahead of the WPL 2027 auction scheduled for October 28 in Kochi, Mumbai Indians have retained 11 players, including captain Harmanpreet Kaur, and released six players, leaving them with a purse of Rs 90 lakh and six available slots. The fifth edition of the Women's Premier League is scheduled to take place from January 14 to February 7, 2027, according to the Board of Control for Cricket in India. Mumbai Indians have claimed two WPL titles across four seasons and will prepare for the upcoming tournament following the player retention deadline and the upcoming auction.
